Sometimes, as a renter, you are living in a privileged space. The most privileged space there could be- someone else’s home. (Their future retirement abode, as it happened to be in our case.) Suffice it to say there’s not much room for self-indulgence when it comes to design, and although I would love to paint everything white and start fresh with a crisp base, sadly, it isn’t meant to be.
Enter the perfect solution for banishing beige walls with minimal hassle: removable wallpaper. And not just removable, but removable wallpaper in gorgeous patterns and prints. These wallpapers have personality, they have charm, they are quirky and original and just begging for a spot in your home. Here are a few of my favourites! (To see even more removable wallpaper, check out part 2 of this post.)

I love the removable wallpaper you suggest for apartments! But I would also like to use it in our permanent home. I hate to “commit” to a wallpaper for fear I won’t like it. However, what if I “do” like the wallpaper? What is the longevity? Will it stay for years if that’s what I want or will is start to peel off w/n a year or 2. Plus, my daughter is 16 & will be going to college this soon. I know she would enjoy an accent wall with wallpaper but we might not like her choice after she’s gone. So, again the removable wall paper seems ideal. Also, will it hurt the paint, pull off some of the color? Or will it leave behind a residue that needs to be cleaned! If so, how hard is the cleaning?

Hi Karen! I’ll admit I’m not entirely sure about the answers to your questions, but based on the research I’ve done, it seems as if removing some of these wallpapers is pretty easy and doesn’t damage walls. I don’t think they’d be very popular if they did, you know? That said, your best bet for guaranteed answers would be to reach out to the companies supplying the wallpapers you love. Good luck and I’d love to hear what they say if you’d like to share it with me afterwards!
