Summer vacations are coming up fast (how is it the middle of April already?) and that means one thing- travelling! We are planning on flying back to Toronto for the first time since moving to LA last November. I know my list of travel must-have’s will get lost in the midst of planning what the Baby and the Boy will need for the 6 weeks we will be away, so before I get too caught up in their needs, it’s time I made a list of what I’ll need! Hopefully you’re planning some time off too. Vacation or staycation, here are the 7 things you’ll need to travel in style.
1. A snazzy iPad case
Marc by Marc Jacobs Jerrie Rose Rubber iPad Case
I need my iPad with me at all times when I’m travelling. It’s an on-the-go entertainment system for the Boy on long plane rides, and when we get there, I’ll need it to catch up on my vacation reading and keep up to date with this blog. I love how pretty and feminine this case is and the watercolour florals are so on point for the season.
2. Comfortable shoes
ASOS Lower Pointed Double Strap Ballet Flats
Flats are my friends when travelling and they should be yours too. They’re stylish and comfortable for trekking through airports. I also love that this pair have a zipper at the heel so slipping them off at security check will be a breeze.
3. Hydrating spray
Avene Thermal Spring Water | Buy it at Drugstore.com
This spray is magical. It is so refreshing and cooling, it’s the perfect thing for staying hydrated and fresh throughout your flight. It’s also a great way to set your makeup, btw, or get some relief from sunburns.
4. One bag to hold it all
Everlane The Reverse-Denim Weekender
A good piece of on-board luggage is crucial to travelling comfortably. Ever since having the kids, I’m usually carrying changes of clothes, toys, books, snacks, diapers, wipes, etc., not to mention my own gear starting with my makeup pouch, valuable jewellery (I never put that in checked luggage), iPhone, iPad, passport, wallet… you get the idea. It’s a pretty full bag by the time I’m done and a regular purse just doesn’t cut it. Enter the weekender. The perfect size for carrying everything and stowing it overhead during the flight. This one is gorgeous and looks like it is well made and holds a ton of stuff. Definitely on my must-have list!
5. Moisturizing lipstick to brighten
5. Nars Lipstick in Shimmering Pink
I don’t know about you, but I always end up looking worn out by the time we get to our destination, and a quick swipe of lipstick is often all that a) I have time for, and b) want to commit to after hours on a plane. Nars Lipsticks are moisturizing and feel luxurious and that’s why they make it into my top 7 travel in style list.
6. A clutch to store your valuables
Stackers Jewelery Wrap at The Container Store
Earrings are the only jewelry I switch up on a regular basis, and so I always feel like I need to carry every.single.pair I own. It’s getting a bit ridiculous now but that’s where this jewelery wrap comes in. It can hold lots of pieces and it wraps up into a stylish little clutch and that’s all I need. Well, that and possibly not carrying all the earrings I own. Also, who would have thought The Container Store had things this cute?
7. Ear buds to rock out/block out
Frends Ella B Rose Gold and White Ear Buds
And finally, ear buds for onboard entertainment and to block out the loud talkers because you know every flight has at least one pair. Last week, I showcased the rose gold and white Frends headphones but I feel like they’re a bit big to stuff into an already overstuffed weekender. These ear buds are both pretty and pretty perfect for when you want to travel light.
And that’s it! These are my 7 essentials for traveling in style! Do you have any recommendations for me? What do you absolutely have to travel with at all times? Tell me everything. I’m here for you.
Those earphones rock …going to Bali in 2 days and now on my need list!
Bali! I’m totally jelly! Have an amazing trip! And yes, they rock hard! (There were too many exclamation points in that sentence. I apologise.)
