Kid’s rooms and spaces are fun to design and in this, the Age of Pinterest, it is so easy to find hundreds of photos and ideas to browse through. Some of them are inspiring (Scandinavian style), some of them not so much (camouflage anyone?), and I’ll be honest, most of them I just pass right by. Given how high standards are in children’s interior design now, it takes more than just a decal’d wall to make me stop and pin. Every once in a while though, a trend will come along that is so irresistably cute, and so perfectly suited to a child’s space, that it’ll make me stop and pin- and grin- every single time. One of these trends is decorating with houses, not the midcentury ones (although those are beautiful too), but the traditional “as you drew it when you were a kid” silhouette. There’s something so whimsical about the whole concept, it warms my heart!
Let’s take a look at a few ideas and concepts for decorating with houses.

Lastly, if you’ve got kids sharing a room, this is a wonderful twist on a bunk bed. I also love the colour scheme, the bedding, the Scandi/MCM style… I could go on. Via Weekday Carnival.
So what do you think? Which room is your favourite and are there any projects you’re thinking of incorporating into your kids’ spaces? The washi tape outlined house and the Ikea bookshelf dollhouse are must-try’s for me.
