About a month ago, my boy turned 4. I spent the day in various states of disbelief. How did time pass by so quickly? I remember his baby days so well, and now here we are, four years later! He’s such a smart, funny kid. Still a baby in so many ways but really coming into his own too. His favourite things right now are Lego City, all sorts of vehicles, the Baby, dessert, eating out at restaurants, riding his bike, and cuddling- not always in that order.
This year was the first year his birthday wasn’t an elaborate production with 60 guests. Mainly because we are away from family and most of our friends, and for another, at this age birthday’s are really starting to become about him and what he would enjoy doing vs. what I would love planning. I still have the Baby to indulge my Pinterest party side with so it’s ok haha. He requested all of the boys from his class (“I don’t play with the girls!”) and a monster truck party. I designed invitations, favor tags and water bottle labels, ordered a cake for him from Lark Cake Shop and picked everything else up from Party City, including those awesome custom balloons with his name on them. Poor baby and her Arabic name will get no pre-personalized goods. Party favours were little monster truck toys , sheets of stickers and assorted lollipops from Dollar Tree all thrown into yellow paper bags. Quick, easy, cheap! They were a big hit!
All photos are courtesy of my lovely friend, Sadaf Murad Photography who doesn’t shoot many birthdays but who was puppy-dog-eye convinced into shooting this one. Hurray!
Hope you enjoyed this little look back at the Boy’s fourth birthday party. If you’re still hankering for more party photos, take a peek at his first birthday celebration.
In other news, as you read this, we are homeward bound to Toronto! I can’t wait to hug my parents, chow down on mom food and share our vacation adventures with you!
Until then,
