Although it has been very hot all week in LA, yesterday it was mostly overcast, so if I stayed indoors I could look out the window through my sheers and pretend Fall was coming. Hilarious, right? But seriously, Fall is my favourite season and the one I miss the most on the West Coast. It’s so classy, from the fashion to the lattes, Fall has always been the new black. I’m currently trying to convince Mr. Tall we need to drive somewhere, anywhere, to experience Fall colours and cooler, crisper mornings. It’s important for my health and wellness, dontchaknow? In the meantime, I’ve rounded up a few inspiring images to show you how to prep your home for Fall and fake it till you get to experience it in person!
I feel like there are two stages of Fall- the one where the leaves are turning glorious shades of red, yellow and orange and the whole world seems alight in the best possible way. This Fall is uplifting, coordinated, and always in a great mood.

Combine colour, texture, and pattern for an amazingly dramatic space. Between the red Imperial Trellis wallpaper, crushed velvet chair, the gorgeous traditional rug, the knit throw, the leather armchair, and that fireplace, well, there’s a lot of ideas here for the perfect Fall room! You could really extract any of these and pop them into your own space to add a touch of warmth, coziness and style. Via The Style Saloniste.

How about swapping out your lightweight summer curtains for gorgeous velvet ones? This beautiful yellow would cheer up any space. Everytime I saw these, I would think of the changing leaves outside. So beautiful! Via Anthropologie.

Add velvet cushions to living rooms and bedrooms to up the luxe factor. Bonus points if you rock a gorgeous velvet couch too. Via Love Chic Living.

To try: Benjamin Moore Forest Green or even Black Forest Green for a darker shade.

Or how about an equally lush deep blue paired with fresh colours like ivory and olive? Via Yellowtrace.

Then there is late Fall, a few weeks before the onset of Winter. This Fall is decidedly more calm and collected and spends its time musing on the passage of Time and the changes it brings. The trees are mostly bare and the air is decidedly cooler.

For late Fall, here’s a slightly different, updated colour palette. Consider these in the same fabrics and textures I’ve talked about for a fresh take on bringing the calm and crispness of the season indoors. Via Yellowtrace.

This beautiful space draws out some of the shades from the updated palette I’ve shown above. It’s not about the architecture here but more about the faux fur throw, the glowing lights behind the bed, and the lovely white wooden floors. I also adore the grey walls. The lightness and brightness inside would be a beautiful contrast against the bare tree brances outside as the leaves shed in late Fall. Via Lilla Kamomilla.

Here’s a different take on the late Fall colour palette- a minimalist but cozy aesthetic with bedding and knit throws in dove, pale blue, and ivory with hits of charcoal.Via Dishfunctional Designs.

Forget the floor- hang a plush, soft rug behind the bed for additional warmth and lots of drama. Also note the quilted headboard, the cozy blankets and that wonderful fluffy pillow. Via The Design Files.
So what do you think? Will you be trying any of these in your home this Fall? Leave me a comment and let me know.
