You guys, Christmas is only 7 weeks away! Letters to Santa (grandparents) need to be written and wish lists made. This year will also be our first time hosting Christmas dinner, which means I need to get a menu sorted and fast! Yes, I know November just started and Thanksgiving is coming up first, but I’m slow, y’all, I need to start planning in advance so I’m not a ball of nerves as cooking day approaches.
All that aside, the most fun part comes first and that is planning the decor for a modern holiday for our new home. No surprise, but I have a Pinterest board, Modern Holiday, dedicated to all sorts of fun, creative and modern ways to celebrate Christmas- from gift wrap to decorating the tree and the house- and so in today’s post I thought I’d share some Modern Holiday inspiration images that have me so excited and looking forward to the holidays! As always, I am all about the neutrals: black, white, tan, plus pops of that gorgeous green that signals winter, all tied up in a pretty bow with copper as a metallic accent. I’m crazy about copper.

I mean, this really is the start of a perfect winter table. First, that light fixture is gorgeous, but I’m also loving the black and white runner, the scattered pinecones and the the sprigs of green. Definitely along the lines of what I’m aiming for but with more copper to glam up the tablescape. Via Styling Pics.

This is the kind of vibe I love – calm, cozy and so chic. Via Domaine Home. Photo by Yayo Ahumada.

I adore this black, white and copper tree. I love the Scandinavian vibe and the plain charcoal paper gift wrap that is dressed up with simple greens and metallic bows. Everything is completely on point with my modern holiday theme. Via Stylizimo Blog.

This black and white table setting, the burlap and sprig of rosemary, the beautiful kraft paper gift wrap and black satin ribbon- I mean, this is what I’m talking about. Srsly. Via Apartment 34, via Belle Vivir, photo by Michael Graydon.

This black and white tree is seriously glam. I’m especially fond of the black and white striped ribbon holding it all together. So inspired by this! Via Just Destiny Mag.

And lastly, if you are renting an apartment and maybe don’t have enough space for an actual tree or just wanted to do something a little bit different, this implied Christmas tree is perfect! It would be seriously easy and very simple to execute (just mount three floating shelves!) and you could use a variety of meaningful objects and family photos to design it. I can also see this working really nicely in a transitional space like a landing or a hallway. Via Paperblog.

So there you have it! Is black, white and copper your Christmas jam or do you prefer the traditional oldie-but-goodie red and gold colour scheme?
