8 Great Removable Wallpapers for Renters

Published on December 2, 2015

When I first wrote about temporary removable wallpaper for renters back in March this year, I had no idea it would become one of the most popular posts on the blog! A pleasant surprise, for sure, and one that definitely warrants a revisit given how many of you come to the blog searching for that particular topic.

For today’s post, I’ve rounded up a few more of my favourite removable wallpapers for renters, everything from a gorgeous skull pattern (WANT) to a bold blue Ikat print. These would be great in any room on their own or even as a backdrop to open shelving, or how about drawer liners as a little surprise every time you pull one open?

Most of these companies have lots of lovely, trendy and traditional, designs so click on through if none of these are exactly what you were looking for. Spoonflower, in particular, is fabulous because almost all of their inventory can also be bought as fabric or gift wrap in addition to wallpaper, or you can even upload your own design for something truly one-of-a-kind! Sweet.

How temporary is this temporary wallpaper? Can it be easily removed after a year?

You would have to research each company individually but that’s the general idea. Easy on, easy off!

Home Depot’s website says the Innocence pattern is not a removable wall paper. What did you do to make it “removable”?

Hi Jennifer! First, I’m so sorry for the late response. I don’t seem to be getting notifications any longer! Anyhow, under “Product Overview” on the Home Depot website, it says “Wallpaper can be removed in full strips when you’re ready for a change.” I believe traditional wallpapers have to be either soaked or have adhesive applied to them which makes them more difficult to remove vs. removable ones which typically are either stick-ons or like this one where you apply the adhesive to the wall before you stick the paper on. Perhaps call Graham & Brown to confirm? Good luck!

What about wall textures? Do the walls have to be smooth or can they have a little texture for the paper to work?

Hi Sarah! I don’t see why not! I think lightly textured walls may show through the paper depending on the thickness of the wallpaper, but it shouldn’t hinder the stickiness. My advice would be to order a sample and leave it up for a few days to see how it does. This will also help you see how well/easily it comes off. Let me know how it goes! xo

HOW IT STARTED // Light, bright, white, minimalist HOW IT STARTED // Light, bright, white, minimalist. I kind of miss those days but then again kind of not? I’ve embraced darker desaturated colours like our Navy blue accent wall downstairs and our green home office/guest room upstairs. ❤️ What’s your preference? Do you naturally veer towards colour? 🤔 #sofreshmyhome #navyblueandprettytoo
A IS FOR...? // Tell me what’s on your mind. I’ll go first: A is for Amazing. Because after almost a whole year of remote schooling, it looks like the kids might finally be going back after Spring break! Woo hoo! 💃🏻 #LAlife
WELL, FINALLY. // It’s February! Legit can’t b WELL, FINALLY. // It’s February! Legit can’t believe we made it through the longest January ever. 🙄 I SO wish I was sitting at this table with all of my favourite people right about now. Instead we’re in, well, I think we all know where we all are and have been since March 2020. Oy vey. 🤦🏻‍♀️ BUT it’s my birthday month and I think I’m finally ready to share everything that’s happened since last September including why I dropped out of the One Room Challenge. Stay tuned for that post. It seems like a season of change for so many of us. May Allah keep us all in His protection. 🙏🏼
VIGNETTE LOVE // Colour, texture, planty goodness VIGNETTE LOVE // Colour, texture, planty goodness plus beautiful art by my fave @atticapress. ❤️ Super into this vignette that I shot many moons ago and just came across again in my camera roll. It’s a good day when you discover photo treasures like these, don’t you think? 😍 #sofreshmyhome
DIVERSIONARY TACTICS // It’s #caturdayathome and DIVERSIONARY TACTICS // It’s #caturdayathome and if I focus on Pippa, I can ignore the fact that the kids’ room hasn’t looked this tidy in weeks. Is it just me or is cleaning basically a waste of time during the holidays/pandemic?? 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️ It literally never stays clean! They’re home ALL the time. My mom is very proud of me right now, I’m sure. 😆 #sofreshmyhome
SHADOWS AND LIGHT // If I had to choose one phrase SHADOWS AND LIGHT // If I had to choose one phrase to remember 2020 by it would be “Sharp contrasts”. We had our fair share of hard to believe moments and lots of jagged peaks and dips. BUT 2021 promises to be an entirely new chapter and I can’t wait to share everything with you soon! Happy New Year, friends! In the Year That Felt Like 10 Years, can you believe we finally made it to the end?? 😱🥳👏🏼#sofreshmyhome #greenrooms

FLASHBACK TO... // The days when the dining table FLASHBACK TO... // The days when the dining table was for actual eating and styling and not for remote schooling, bags of school supplies, and the occasional cat. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 How is your work/school-at-home space looking right now? #sofreshmyhome
WEEK 2 of the ORC // While we haven’t started an WEEK 2 of the ORC // While we haven’t started any kind of reno yet (the plan is to start this coming week!), lots of exciting things have happened in the powder room nonetheless. For one, the @luluandgeorgia rug has been ordered as has the stunning @sandbergwallpaper roll. Also, this beautiful gold hanger arrived from @hmhome and I’m definitely fitting it into the scheme. Mainly tho, I decided to use another piece of art from the amazing @atticapress and I am extremely excited to see this all come together! 🙌🏼😍 #oneroomchallenge #bhgorc @oneroomchallenge @betterhomesandgardens #sofreshmyhome
