If you’re on Pinterest as much as I am you’ve probably spotted this trend popping up in your feed time and again- it looks like emerald green is slowly overtaking blush pink as the “It” colour of the year. I wonder if this is a temporary “I’ve got the Fall/Winter feels” trend or if it will carry on through to next spring and summer too? I hope it does! Although I also hope the two can co-exist forever in “now trending” harmony haha because I love them both.

Emerald green is surprisingly livable, whether it’s used on walls, as an accent piece, or on upholstered furniture (preferably velvet and sometimes linen, yum). Maybe it’s because it reminds us of the outdoors and the positive, life-giving, mood-enhancing power of greenery? Unlike the godawful Pantone Colour of the Year– I literally couldn’t think of a single application of that shade of green that I liked- dark green makes me feel grounded and peaceful, and reminds me of my beloved fiddle leaf fig and rubber plant. Here are a few gorgeous examples of why it’s taking over our homes and I’m not even mad about it.

As you can see, emerald green pairs perfectly with blush pink, with brights like mustard, and neutral tones too- really, any colour you can think of! I’d personally avoid red or any shade thereof, unless you’re in the Christmas mood, but even then, I’m all about monochromes with a pop of green. (Speaking of, have you seen the new Target collection, Hearth & Hand? It is all about a black and white Christmas with touches of emerald green and strong Scandinavian overtures. It’s gorgeous! But I digress.)
