Lately, I’ve been focused on styling the new wall of book shelves in our new study/guest room (which I’m hoping to reveal on the blog soon!). I’ve only once before had a similar situation in one of our previous homes and it was so much fun to practice my shelf styling then but I definitely think I’m ready to up my game this time around and add lots more visual interest. I’m planning to do a mix of thrifted goodies, affordable pieces from stores like H&M Home (always a fave), and of course, books we love. You can also hop straight ahead to shop this post if you just want to get styling already!

A small peek at one of the bookshelves in our new home office/guestroom! The walls are Benjamin Moore’s In the Garden from the Aura collection. Shop: Pothos plant, Planter (sold out, similar style candle), Vase, Marble Book End (sold out, similar style green marble bowl), Alabaster bust of Apollo, Wall Mounted Bookshelves.
Warning: You are about to be very inspired by this collection of perfectly styled shelves!
The 15 images I’ve collected below are a mix of the work of some of my favourite interior designers (Studio McGee! Amber Interiors! Park and Oak Design!) and some I’ve discovered from- and pinned to my Shelf Styling board- on Pinterest. I hope you find them as helpful and inspiring as I have. If you take any #shelfie’s after this post, remember to tag me on Instagram! I’d love to see how you’ve refreshed your shelves.

Well, this is just gorgeous and really turns the shelves into a work of art! Via Apartment 34. Photo by Seth Smoot.

A more tradition way of styling the bookshelves shown above! I love how curated and crisp this looks. Just the right amount of books and collected objects. Via Apartment 34

I love, love the graphic pop of black and white here and that it’s a tray! Via These Four Walls Blog

Muted tones and a monochromatic palette? Talk about perfectly styled shelves! Via BatesSmart

This is just delightful! The raw edge cubbies in this shelf are a statement all on their own and the diagonally placed books, art, and vases just elevate everything to couture levels. Love! Via Architectural Digest

This is a perfect example of using your shelves to display everything but books. Via Am Designs

I love how the curves on each sculpture and vase complement the straight sharp edges of the books. The styling ties in so nicely to the curved back armchair and the oval coffee table in the foreground. Also! Can you believe those shelves are 100% DIY?? Via Room for Tuesday

Perfectly styled shelves can be as familiar and comforting as a cup of tea on a rainy day. Here, Ikea does it again. I know it’s not the most practical look but I’ve always loved turning books around to present the pages and not the spine. The varying shades of cream, ivory, taupe and brown are so visually calming. Well, this is just lovely all around. Most people think of forward facing shelves in the nursery or a child’s room but it turns these picture ledges work just as well in the living room too! I love this inviting gallery display of favourite books and how the tones in the covers mimic the colours in the woven basket, throw, and vase. Via My Scandinavian Home

Clean, uncluttered and perfectly styled. Also how gorgeous is the curved arch on these built in bookshelves? Via Park and Oak

100% plate display goals haha. Absolutely love the floating shelves and displaying your favourite porcelain this way vs. a closed cabinet. Via Brady Tolbert

No words. The styling on the shelves above this wet bar is perfect. Via Studio McGee

Minimal, beautiful, monochromatic styled shelves with a pop of gold. Via Studio Griffiths

Monochromatic but make it (mostly) white. Via Lark & Linen
