Hello friends! Friday Finds is back after a year-long hiatus and it’s a good one! From deep, soothing blue interiors to my favourite pieces of altered art, I’ve got a treat for you!
1. Moody Blues
When things go sideways, I tend to reach for darker, more soothing tones. Suddenly, I want my navy blue bedspread to up the cozy factor in our bedroom and tone down the light and bright feels. Our dark green study is my shelter. My wardrobe changes too- instead of bright colours I prefer to wear darker, less saturated tones.
It only made sense, then, to show you some inspiration for bringing a more comforting feeling into home design too, and a rich, moody blue is the perfect companion to soothe. According to colour pros, “Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. It is also often associated with depth and stability.”
Here are a few of my favourite interiors featuring my current favourite dark blue in various settings throughout the home. The effect is calm, sophisticated and polished.

2. The Easiest Chocolate Pudding Recipe
The current quarantine situation means I’ve been cooking a lot lately. For one, the kids are home and somehow *always* hungry but also because, really, why not? Now that I’m not driving the kids to activities and sports all over the city, I certainly have the time, and I see it as an area in which there’s lots of room for improvement for me. Some days I’ll make a fancy three-course dinner, and others, all I want is a quick fix of healthy-ish chocolate for dinner. Enter the Kitchen Stories (obsessed!) app and website and, via that, this perfect and easy no-bake chocolate pudding recipe! In a nutshell? Blend an avocado, a banana, a tsp of vanilla essence (I didn’t have a vanilla bean pod), 2 tbsp of cocoa powder, 3 tbsps of honey or agave nectar, and 3 tbsps of any milk. I used almond because I had it on hand. The recipe does say to use only a 1 tbsp plus a bit of milk but I found that wasn’t nearly enough to blend properly. That’s it! Chill and serve. It’s a pretty forgiving recipe but it’s also pretty easy and just all around delicious and decadent! Give it a shot and let me know how you liked it!
3. Now Trending: Altered Art and Surrealist Portraits
* Affiliate links. Thank you for supporting this independently run blog.
I’ve been on an art buying spree lately, and by far and away, my favourite styles are either Altered Art (where an existing, usually famous piece of art is, well, altered usually with paint) or Surrealist (eccentric, otherworldly, wildly imaginative). I usually purchase my art from one of two places: Society6 or Etsy. Below, I’m showing you some of the art in our home and you can also shop my top picks for altered and surrealist art!

This photo is from our home office/guest room and these two were purchased on Etsy, printed at FedEx and are displayed in frames from Target.

This beautiful and quirky print hangs above my daughter’s bed. See the kids’ modern and playful bedroom reveal right here.

And, finally, this lovely lady hangs in our dining room downstairs.
