Hello, hello! Happy March! Can you believe how quickly February zoomed by? My parents were over for the first half, and then I was busy prepping for, and attending, one of the best events in town: the Vanity Fair Social Club Oscars celebration week. This was my first time attending the Oscars event (I attended their Emmys celebration last year) and it did not disappoint! The best part, apart from the panels, speakers and amazing swag, is meeting and connecting with fabulous blogger babes from all across North America. It’s always a good chance to catch up and to make new friends.
This year, I got organized when it came to my outfits and chose three separate looks for the days I was attending. I thought I’d share each look with you and talk a little bit about where I got my outfits from and the makeup I used.
Day 1
Outfit: I channeled my inner preppy girl with a new favourite shift dress from H&M (I can’t find it on their website but its all over the stores right now), nude suede pumps with the cutest fringe tassel on the back heel from DSW, and a matching vegan suede bag I’ve had forever.
Beauty: I started off with e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer in Brightening Lavender (I love this product, seriously. It pumps out like a really lightweight cream and feels like the softest powder when you smooth it on. It evens out any redness on my face and makes the perfect base for Garnier’s BB Cream in Light/Medium which is my go-to foundation. I lightly dab on Mac Studio Fix Powder in C35 to set everything in place.
For my eyes, I used e.l.f eyeshadow in Natural Matte on my lid and up to my brow bone (I received this palette from e.l.f. to try on and while I haven’t loved everything they’ve sent me, this I really liked! The quality is great too especially considering they’re only $2!). I lined my lower lash line with the bright turquoise colour from the L’oreal Hip Bright Shadow Duo in Showy- this is a favourite colour, and favourite trick, of mine to add a pop of colour to an otherwise neutral eye. I always get complimented on it! If you have dark brown eyes and are sporting a tan or have olive skin, I highly recommend picking this up! I finished off with NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Peachy as my blush (I love it because it’s a mix of different shades and kind of contours and highlights in one sweep) and my forever-favourite L’oreal Voluminous Mascara. My lipstick was Mac’s Velvet Teddy which is the most perfect nude, matte lip colour you could find. I am obsessed.
My nails were Joe Fresh nail polish in Peacock. Oh, and those fabulous earrings are from H&M too.
Day 2
Outfit: My go-to store for clothes for this entire series was H&M. I really love everything they have in store right now! I picked up the cut-out shoulder top and the slouchy dress-up sweat pants from there too, along with the strappy black sandals and the gold geometric earrings. The sandals are completely perfect because they’re not too high so I can actually walk in them. Imagine that!
Beauty: I started off with the same base as day 1, but I decided to go with a different look for my eyes. I used a shimmery base from Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Palette in Nude. I received this from Physicians Formula and I love, love it. It really is very shimmery and the shades are all perfectly hued so you can see the shimmer but you can also see the colour. It’s perfect for layering on- a single sweep gives you a subtle sparkle but it’s very buildable and you can add on as much sparkle as you want. I opted for a sultry cat eye liner with the Super Fat Eye Marker from NYX. This is a great product if you like liquid eyeliner but can’t use a brush applicator or find other marker tips too fine. This has rapidly become a go-to liner for me. My cheeks were NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Peachy again and I used Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick in Flirty which is a great matte raspberry colour.
I painted my nails with H&M nailpolish in Neo Noir and put my hair up in a high ponytail to complement the athleisure look I was channeling.
Day 3
Outfit: This day I went for a more business-casual day look with this great faux leather skirt paired with an oversized slouchy dress shirt, both again from H&M, including the silver bangles and hoops.
Beauty: With the base and the blush the same as on previous days, I did my eyes in a lighter swatch from the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Palette in Nude and lined my eyes with the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer. I opted not to extend the eyeliner out but kept it just to the end of my lid. My lipstick this day was Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which is a very pretty, saturated and creamy, rose pink. These were actually part of the birthday gift set I received this year from Sephora this year. I have to say, Marc Jacobs is very rapidly becoming one of my very favourite high-end makeup lines. I started out with two shades of the nail polish last year and I was hooked. The quality is far superior to anything else I’ve ever worn. Highly, highly recommended! I’m really looking forward to trying out more from this line.
My nails were No Place Like Chrome from Essie and I wore my hair loose and full with a little spray of Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo. Although it’s a dry shampoo, its great because it adds a lot of volume and a hint of texture to my hair.
And there you go! A day-by-day breakdown of my looks from the Vanity Fair Social Club Oscars shindig this past week. I had so much fun planning these looks and dressing up – can’t wait to do it all over again for the Emmys celebration later this year! A huge thank you to my friend Michaell from Foodscape for the photos. You might remember her for the Vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe she whipped up for the blog last year.
So tell me, do you love H&M as much as I do? Which of the three looks was your favourite?
You look great! Love the patterned shift dress and the slouchy pants the most!
I’m always moving back and forth with beauty products and the one I used before discontinued so I’m hunting for one that matches my skin tone just as well… So rough!

Thanks Miki! š
Oh, discontinued is the worst! It’s so stressful in a way. Have you tried any BB or CC creams to find a match? I also keep hearing great things about Armani foundation!
I’m loving the printed dress! Such a classic style and fit. You look gorgeous in all three š
