Oh hey, we’re in Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! While we haven’t been able to start on any “real” work i.e. taking things down and painting etc., I did narrow down some details and finalized more of the artwork for the new powder room. Shall we discuss?
The Wallpaper
The Sandberg “Eugen Grey” Wallpaper is arguably the most commented on, and loved, aspect of my design board from every one who has seen it both on Instagram and offline. I totally get it! Sandberg is the epitome of Scandinavian wallpapers. Not only are they purveyors to the Royal Court of Sweden but every single one of their designs is hand drawn and created in house! The neutral tones and the calm, sophisticated vibe of the Eugen Grey is exactly what I was looking for and stood out amongst the rest of their equally covetable papers. Next time, I hope to wallpaper an entire room in one of their beautiful patterns!
A Paint Update
As far as wall colour is concerned, initially I was thinking I’d pair the wallpaper with one of Farrow & Ball’s neutrals like perhaps Schoolhouse White, Skimming Stone or Elephant’s Breath (see moodboard above). However, after seeing Sandberg’s inspiration photo below, where it is paired with a beautiful desaturated grey-blue, I’m now switching the wall colour to a similar tone!
My intention is to make this powder room a beautiful surprise for anyone using it. And yes, I know it’s basic function is as a restroom haha but I’d like for people who use it to feel like they’ve stepped into a luxe little corner of our home full of thoughtful design details. Considering the majority of our walls are white, I think the grey-blue could be a really nice change and help to give it that jewel box feeling I’m going for.

The Accessories
So the other details in here are as follows: Gold hooks for towels, a toilet paper holder, art, a new faucet, and of course, the quatrefoil mirror and a new semi flush mount light.
The light I had originally chosen will not arrive until the end of November, which is a bummer, but I also feel that maybe it was fortuitous because now I’m thinking I’d like to add some more gold in here. Perhaps similar to the piece I have in my moodboard on Instagram. I had initially dismissed it as too glam but perhaps it may work after all?
I’ll be using a beautiful gold coat rack from H&M Home for the towels in this space. The matte black towel bar I had ordered two(!) years ago (that’s how long I’ve been thinking about making over this space!) is the wrong size and I love this one more. The paper towel holder and faucet will still be black, and I’ve chosen to add another piece of art (Gertie in a Fur Coat) from Attica Press to the seascape in my moodboard. The colours are just gorgeous together! Also, I’m kind of obsessed with Gertie and I want to know her whole back story.
There will, of course, also be a bust because it is my home and I have thing for beautiful busts haha, a beautiful candle or two, and that stunning Lulu & Georgia rug. I would love to add an acrylic tank tray also but the hunt for the perfect one continues! Leave me a comment below and let me know if you find one!

I really love how moody this collection of objects looks! I feel like these will be a good companion to the lighter feeling of the wallpaper.
That’s all for Week 2! Please follow me on Instagram as I post updates to this space, and I’ll also be back next Thursday for Week 3 updates with hopefully more exciting progress to share! You can also check out the Before photos of this Powder Room in last week’s update.
As always, please check out the fab makeovers in progress every Wednesday by the featured designers and every Thursday by other guest participants in this ORC!
See you next week!
